Kingston Couples Photography — Engagement, Proposal, and Anniversary
What are Narrative Portrait Sessions?
Narrative portrait sessions are playfully designed for couples celebrating engagements, proposals, anniversaries, and meaningful milestones. Sessions take place over 2 hours, throughout Kingston and the Thousand Islands, combining cinematic portraiture with real experiences — city walks, waterfront views, and 1000 island adventures.
These sweet sessions tell this chapter of your love story. They hold on to what your body remembers about being here: the temperature in the air that day, the sound your shoes made on the trail, the smell of Lake Ontario's freshwater and sunscreen, the vast land & skyscape.
What Narrative Photo Sessions Feel Like
Dates disguised as photoshoots
Think of Narrative photo sessions as a playful, adventurous, aesthetically pleasing date with the one you love most.
Narrative Sessions are meant to allow you to celebrate your engagement, anniversary or proposal, fully enjoying the moment while it's happening, rather than disrupting it working out the logistics of how to capture it. They feel like slowing down and speeding up at the same time since, time flies when you're having fun!
I use an activity-led, observant, docu-prompt approach which ensures that you focus more on the experience and your partner, while I focus on the best of you.
All photographed as it happens without excessive staging and interrupting.
A gallery of resonant photos that continue to feel REAL when you look back on them.

Your Privacy Comes Standard
These moments belong to you, not the internet. You are in control.
Photographers rely on past work to show future clients what’s possible. That said, your privacy matters. I’ll always ask for clear permission before sharing any images from your session, and you’re free to keep your gallery completely private if that’s what you prefer.
Springtime Photo Session Itineraries for Kingston & 1000 Islands
Seasonal Experiences to Explore during your Romantic Weekend in the Kingston Area:
Wolfe Island Ferry Sunset Portrait Experience
Ride the Wolfe Island ferry across Lake Ontario, wander the island’s shops, quiet roads and shoreline, and finish with sunset along the water. The ferry crossing itself becomes part of the story—wind off the lake, open sky, the slow approach to the island.
Possible sequence:
• ferry crossing
• island exploration
• quiet roadside stops
• shoreline sunset
Downtown Kingston Waterfront Evening Portrait Experience
Kingston slows down along the waterfront as the evening arrives. Couples wander the harbour paths, pause along the docks, or take a short ride along the shoreline trail as boats return to the marina and the lake reflects the last light of the day.
Possible moments from the experience include:
• walking along Kingston’s harbourfront paths
• cycling the shoreline trail past the marinas
• quiet pauses along the docks
• golden light across Lake Ontario
• dusk settling over the waterfront
Fort Henry Wind & Sky Portrait Experience
Fort Henry sits high above the water where wind moves constantly across the open grounds. Couples wander the paths, limestone beaches, and grassy spaces overlooking the harbour as the sky shifts toward evening. On breezy days the open landscape becomes playful and expansive.
Possible moments from the experience include:
• walking along the Fort Henry grounds
• sweeping views of the harbour as the ferry passes through
• wind moving across open fields
• flying a kite over the water
• sunset light across the city skyline
Indoors: Cozy Café, At-Home, or BnB Portrait Experience
Cooler seasons invite slower evenings indoors. Couples settle into a café or quiet corner of their unique, boutique bed and breakfast while conversation, warm drinks, and window light create an intimate atmosphere. The session captures the small moments that unfold naturally in these calm indoor spaces.
Possible moments from the experience include:
• coffee or tea through the window
• quiet conversation across a table
• warm light inside a café or BnB lounge
• reading together or sharing a drink
• stepping outside into the evening streets of your neighbourhood
Conservation Area Forest Hike Portrait Experience
A quiet walk through one of Kingston’s municipal conservation, where light filters through the forest and the city fades into the background. The session unfolds naturally along the trail as couples explore the woods together in their hiking gear. Photography captures the stillness, movement, and atmosphere that comes from being surrounded by the forest.
Ideal conservation areas include:
- Lemoine's Point
- Parrott's Bay
Possible moments from the experience include:
• fresh smell of evergreens
• walking in speckled light on forest trails
• texture of limestone, moss and the different trees and shrubs
• quiet, tall grass clearings along the path
• wooden bridges, or boardwalks along the waterway
• soft evening light settling through the forest
Spring Blossoms Walk Portrait Experience
For a short window each spring, Kingston softens as blossoms begin appearing around the city and campus paths. Couples wander beneath the flowering crabapple, magnolia, cherry, or lilac trees while the season slowly transitions from quiet winter streets to warmer summer evenings. The session follows the walk as gardens spring into bloom across the Limestone City, and light filters through the branches of the flowering trees before the green's become too deep.
Possible moments from the experience include:
• walking beneath apple or cherry blossoms
• petals drifting through the air as the flowers become spent
• quiet downtown side street or campus pathways
• soft spring light twinkling through the soft green trees

Questions You Might Have
Do we need to know how to pose?
No. The session unfolds through movement and conversation rather than structured posing. You already know how to exist together.
I just guide you to what looks most flattering on camera sometimes but, no long-term, stiff posing required.
Who are these photography sessions for?
These 2-hour, Narrative Portrait Sessions are for visitors to Kingston, Thousand Islands, or Prince Edward County areas who want a meaningful alternative to traditional engagement or lifestyle portraits. They are for people living their story and celebrating life! This could be just because, or a special milestone like graduation, moving away, a big promotion, engagement, anniversaries, birthdays, etc. They are meant to happily document a small chapter of this season in your life.
What if we’re visiting Kingston and don’t know the area?
That’s common. I help plan the route and timing so the experience flows naturally. I've lived and explored this area for over two decades. I've got you covered there. Ask me about hidden gems and spots that are off the beaten path.
What should we wear?
Simple, comfortable clothing that fits the season and setting so that your gallery feels relaxed and makes sense when you look back at it. Clothing that doesn't align with the environment tends to feel staged when looking back at your images (for example, gorgeous heels in the woods).
I provide guidance beforehand if you want help choosing.
What if the weather changes?
Some of the most cinematic sessions happen in shifting weather. Rain, fog, and dark clouds sometimes give way to dramatic skies, rainbows and incredible reflections you'd never have gotten otherwise. It's like winning a little lottery. If conditions become truly unworkable we simply reschedule. If you're visiting, it's a good idea to book your session early in your trip so we have room to pivot.
I have other ideas or activities in mind for our photoshoot than the ones already mentioned. Are you flexible to photograph in other locations?
Yes! Always. We just need to investigate permissions and permitting if required. Where you go, I go. I offer a wide travel radius around Kingston which is included in the session fee, however additional costs such as park admission, permitting, etc., may be required.
Do you work with local businesses for your sessions?
Yes. Many of my narrative portrait sessions unfold like a relaxed date around Kingston and the Thousand Islands. I often collaborate with local cafés, bookstores, ferry routes, restaurants, and small businesses that make these experiences memorable.
If you run a local space that would be a great stop during a date-style session, I’m always open to promotional partnerships that highlight great places for couples visiting the area. Express your interest by signing up here.
Do you photograph children and families?
I sure do! I mostly work with couples however, I have three kiddos of my own and treasure the photographs I have of us so deeply. I offer the same activity-based, docu-prompted style photos of families immersed in the imperfect joy of life whether it's out-and-about, or at home. For privacy and ethical reasons, I do not share many images of children online. You can ask to see some portfolio images if interested. If you're seeking a more studio-posed style of family portraits, I can recommend someone for you.
