How to Get Out of Your Own Way and See the Photogenic Potential in Your Everyday Life
Here’s the thing:
You’re not going to wake up one day with a perfectly curated life.
Your home won’t magically transform into a film set.
Your clothes won’t fall into place like a Pinterest board.
And you don’t need any of that for photos that matter.
What you do need is a shift in how you see your daily life.
Your Daily Life Is Already Worthy of Being Documented
Think about the things you do every day without even noticing:
- The way you sit at the kitchen table, coffee in hand, eyes half-closed in the morning light.
- The walks you take—keys in one hand, the other tucked into your partner’s pocket.
- The routines you think are boring: folding laundry, flipping through a book, building a heaping plate of specialty nachos (Yes, we talk a lot about nachos around here).
These moments are the fabric of your life.
They’re how you move through the world, and they hold texture, emotion, and memory in a way that no staged photo ever could.
Why Can’t You See It?
Because you’re too busy judging yourself. You think you need a “better” space, a more polished look, a “special” occasion.
You’re waiting for your life to feel like it’s worthy of being seen, and you’ll wait forever if you keep thinking that way.
The most photogenic moments aren’t the posed ones. You know I'm right. You've seen it in the glimpses of photos others have taken of you.
The best photos of you are the ones where you’re caught up in doing something that matters to you, no matter how bit, small or "mundane".
How to Start Seeing the Potential
- Stop thinking of your life as content. Start thinking of it as a story.
- Notice the light in your house at 4 p.m. Notice the way your partner looks at you when you’re pouring coffee and they reach for you.
- Think about the routines that make you feel like you—reading in bed, walking your dog, stretching in the sun, cooking dinner together.
- Let go of the idea that you need an event. The everyday is the event.
What It Feels Like to Be Photographed in Your Everyday Life
When I’m behind the camera, I’m not waiting for you to “perform.” I’m watching for the things you don’t even realize you do:
- The way you tuck your hair behind your ear.
- The glance you give when you’re deep in thought.
- The small, unremarkable gestures that make you feel real.
A photoshoot with me won't feel super performative. It’s an invitation to slow down, move through your life, and let me catch the moments you’d never think to capture on your own.
Your Life Already Looks Like a Film
You don’t need a big scene to tell a story. Your story is happening now—in your kitchen, on your couch, in the car, at the park.
Get out of your own way. Let yourself see it. Let someone else see it for you.
Let’s tell the story that’s already there.
If you’re tired of waiting for the “perfect time” to get photos taken,
stop.
That time isn’t coming.
Your life is happening now—on the couch, in the kitchen, on the walk to the coffee shop.
Reach out. Let’s get started and make images that feel like you.
