Fun Couples Photoshoot Ideas in Kingston, Ontario, that Feel Like A Date Instead
Kingston and area is full of places that make incredible backdrops for couples sessions like historic limestone streets, Lake Ontario waterfront views, boutique local businesses, and unexpected experiences. These ideas turn a typical photoshoot into something that actually feels like a date.
My work revolves around incorporating your "everyday" into your photo session, whatever that is because... these things usually go overlooked.
No need to submit to nuzzling noses at sunset, golden grass swaying, with "Fields of Gold" softly playing in the background.
Read through the list of fun, dude-approved photo session ideas you never even thought of, all of which can easily be arranged right here, in Kingston, Ontario.

Why Getting the Guy On Board Is the Hardest Part of a Couples Photo Shoot
A lot of couples sessions stall before they even begin because (often) the fellas aren't exactly thrilled about spending an hour or two arranging limbs in a field while some stranger with a camera tells him where to put his hands and lips. It feels awkward, staged, and suspiciously close to something he’d rather fake a dentist appointment to avoid.
When the experience feels unnatural, participation drops and the photos show it but the fix is actually very simple: build the shoot around something that already feels like real life for you so that the camera becomes background noise instead of the main event. When there’s movement, places to explore, and something mildly entertaining happening, people loosen up. The result looks like two humans enjoying their lives together instead of a couple politely waiting for the session to end.
If you need more inspiration, these are just a few ideas from my master list.
When the Experience Is Real, the Photos Follow
You're partner isn't allergic to having their photo taken. Your idea of a photoshoot is just...boring. But, it doesn't have to be!
Your photo session just needs a setting where the two of you can naturally exist together!
A place to wander, something mildly entertaining to do, and enough room for your personalities to show up without overthinking it too much.
If any of these ideas made you think, “Okay… that actually sounds fun,” then we’re probably a good fit.

A quick note about locations
Many of these ideas involve real local businesses and public spaces. Sessions in these locations always happen with a bit of planning ahead of time. We check hours, ask for explicit permission where needed, and choose times that won’t disrupt the normal rhythm of the place. The goal is to create something memorable while being respectful of the people and businesses that make Kingston such an interesting place to explore.
