Novella: A Day-In-The-Life Portrait Session
Most portrait sessions are built around an hour, a location, and a version of yourself you’re expected to perform.
This isn’t that.
A Day-In-The-Life session is a half-day documentary portrait experience designed to quietly observe how your life actually unfolds — the in-between moments, the unplanned rhythms, the way you move through time together.
There’s no rush. We have lots of time to get to everything.
No single “hero location.” The session is designed for variety.
No pressure to manufacture a mood. The session is designed for honesty.
That might look like:
- a slow morning at home
- a walk you always take but never document
- errands, coffee, windows, cars, pauses
- time spent together without needing to fill it
Why this exists
Lives don’t happen in 60-minute increments.
Relationships don’t reveal themselves on cue.
The moments people miss most later are rarely the polished ones. They’re the ordinary sequences that disappear quietly over time — how a room felt, how someone looked listening, the way a day moved before it became memory.
This session is for people who understand that their real life is already worth documenting, without manufacturing or spectacle.
How it works
This is offered as a half-day rate, not an hourly session.
That matters, because it removes the countdown clock.
We’re not racing light, squeezing moments, or forcing efficiency.
I work alongside you quietly and intentionally, letting scenes unfold rather than heavily directing them. There may be gentle guidance when needed, but the emphasis is on observation.
The result is a cohesive visual record, a narrative.
Privacy, by default
All Day-In-The-Life sessions are private.
Images are not shared publicly without explicit permission.
If you later choose to license a small selection of images for portfolio use, that’s a separate, optional decision made with full context.
Many clients never do. That’s expected and respected.
Who this is for
People who:
- value depth over polish
- feel uneasy about traditional photo sessions
- want images that age honestly
- understand that presence is fleeting
Milestone, "good reason" or celebration not required.
Availability
Because these sessions require: time to coordinate, emotional attentiveness, and for space to unfold naturally, availability is limited and scheduled selectively.
