Why Spring Is One of the Best Times for a Couples Photo Session in Kingston and Prince Edward County
Spring sessions tend to be some of the most quietly beautiful, and the most overlooked.
You might be asking yourself, "Why wouldn't I wait to book a photography session until summer?"
Before the summer crowds return:
- Local conservation areas are open and breathable
- Urban streets are much slower
- Cafés, restaurants, breweries, wineries, are all easing back into patio season
- Trails are damp from snowmelt, with just enough new green to catch the light and add dimension, without swallowing the environment whole
- The temperatures are mild enough to avoid overheating while lending itself to versatile, layered looks that become part of the story
- Sunset arrives at a more reasonable hour, which makes it easier to plan around dinner, kiddos, and travel times
What a Spring Narrative Photo Session Could Look Like in Kingston, the Thousand Islands or PEC, Ontario
If you prefer a little more privacy, Narrative sessions in the spring often feel less performative than peak summer bookings because there’s space to linger, to layer indoor and outdoor scenes, and to move between environments without rushing to beat sunset or navigate around crowds.
You might find yourselves:
- walking a quiet shoreline while the lake is still steel-grey
- stepping into a greenhouse or gallery for warmth between scenes
- sharing a booth in a half-full café with the windows open
- pausing under early canopy on a conservation trail
- taking an unhurried stroll through Springer Market Square and Downtown Kingston's side streets, while the blooms come back into color
Lumenali Availability: March 1, 2026 to June 30, 2026
Each season brings a slightly different rhythm to how Narrative and Novella sessions are scheduled.
In the spring, I keep my calendar intentionally structured.
This allows each session to unfold without being rushed into the margins of an already full week, for you and for me.
Weekday Daytime Photo Sessions Availability:
Tuesday and Thursday daytime
(9:30am–2:30pm)
Ideal for people who:
- work remotely or have flexible schedules
- are on parental leave
- are visiting midweek
- are carving out intentional time together
Spring’s softer overcast skies and emerging canopy make daytime storytelling especially well-suited to:
- forested trails
- quiet conservation areas
- indoor, at-home sessions
- and indoor-to-outdoor transitions like
- cafés
- galleries
- ferry rides
Wednesday and Friday evenings
after 4pm to Sunset (Golden Hour)
A limited number of evening sessions are offered each month for those who prefer an outdoor sunset experience.
These are typically reserved 2-3 weeks in advance and fill quickly during the shoulder season, as the blooms arrive, the world warms up, and the evenings extend.
Weekend availability is extremely limited during the spring months and tends to be reserved by weddings and elopements.
Many of the couples I work with choose to treat their session as part of an existing outing, for example:
- an afternoon off together playing local tourist
- a midweek stay in Prince Edward County
- a local nature hike
rather than something that needs to be fit in after an already busy day.
Booking a Spring Photo Session in Kingston, 1000 Islands or PEC
If you're considering a spring session and are unsure whether a weekday might be possible, feel free to reach out to talk through options.
Seasonal availability shifts throughout the year, and midweek bookings often provide the most flexibility in both timing and location.
